Talent Pulse · September 2026
The talent market in PE-backed healthcare tech.
A monthly read for CEOs, people leaders, and sponsor talent partners. Leadership moves, what's actually being hired, and the seats to plan for. Compiled from public sources; every item is linked.
New owners, new leaders, same hard seats.
Carve-outs and new platforms kept producing first-year leadership teams: new CEOs, new COOs, and first-ever product and client officers. On public job boards, most openings were individual-contributor and manager roles in implementation, client success, and revenue cycle. Relatively few VP and C-level seats were posted at all. Meanwhile, AI roles are starting to appear in product, delivery, and governance, and payer interoperability work has a hard federal deadline in January 2027.

What public job boards showed.
We read the public job boards of 11 PE-backed healthcare technology and services companies on September 24–26, 2026. Together they listed about 147 open postings.
Delivery roles are everywhere
Eight of the 11 were hiring delivery roles: implementation, onboarding, client success, or EHR consulting, from specialists to an SVP of client implementations.
Few leadership seats are posted
VP and C-level roles were roughly one in ten postings. Many leadership searches never reach a public board.
Carve-outs hire on the old system
Three weeks after closing, MatrixCare's public board still sat on its former parent's Workday, with two postings.
What's coming in the next 12 months.
Three forces that will shape hiring into 2027.
AI moves into delivery
Ambient documentation and other clinical AI need people to implement, govern, and prove them. Clinical AI product managers and AI governance leads are early signs.9
Revenue cycle work shifts up
Automation takes repeatable, transactional work. Revenue cycle teams move toward exceptions, analytics, and higher-value review.10
The 2027 payer deadline
CMS requires impacted payers to run new FHIR-based data-exchange and prior authorization APIs, with API deadlines primarily on January 1, 2027. Interoperability talent will be scarce.11
Four moves for this quarter.
1. Scope the first-year seats early. List the leadership seats the value-creation plan depends on before the first board meeting, and start the hardest one now.
2. Run repeat seats as one program. If you will hire the same implementation or client success profile three or more times this year, calibrate it once and run it continuously.
3. Name an AI adoption owner. Before scaling AI features, give one person the job of proving they work in the customer's workflow.
4. Start interoperability hiring before 2027. FHIR-fluent engineers and implementation leads are already in demand from EHR vendors and payers.
